Muskego Water Softener Co. Call(262) 829-5961

Is your Muskego house on the corridors or on a well?

Muskego's municipal water does not reach every street. It follows a handful of corridors, and the homes between them draw from their own wells. This guide shows how to tell which kind of house you live in, and why the answer changes the quote.

The band where most of the mains run

Picture the land between Janesville Road and Woods Road, plus both roads themselves, running from the western city line to Tess Corners. That band holds most of the Muskego Water Utility's mains. Mains also follow Durham Drive and McShane Road, along with a few other roads.

Away from those corridors, by the utility's own description, homes are on private wells.

Close to a corridor is not the same as on it

Living near one of those roads does not by itself mean a connection. The mains follow corridors, not neighborhoods, so a house close to one can still draw from its own well.

The list of roads is a general description, too. The utility's own words include a few other roads it does not name, so a street missing from the list is not proof of a well either.

In the end the address decides it, which is why the address is the first thing the quote call asks for.

How to know for certain

A water bill from the Muskego Water Utility settles it: the house is connected. No water bill means the house pumps its own.

If you have no bill to go by, as when buying or renting, ask the utility with the street address. Renters can also ask the landlord which bills the house gets.

What each answer means for the quote

A corridor connection does not come with a number. The utility publishes none, and two of its wells read about 3 and about 24 grains on the same day in April 2026, so your first real figure is the one the plumber measures in your house.

A well comes with whatever its lab report says. Waukesha County wells often carry iron alongside the hardness, so read both on the call, and keep a yearly bacteria test on your own calendar, as the Wisconsin DNR advises for private wells.

Common questions

My street is not on the list. Am I on a well?

Probably, but not certainly, since the utility says a few other roads have mains as well. Your water bill, or the utility itself, gives the definite answer.

Does a corridor connection mean softer water?

No. The utility calls its water relatively hard, and its own wells sampled on April 27, 2026 read about 3 and about 24 grains.

Can I get a quote if I am not sure which I have?

Yes. Give the address and say you are not sure; the call works it out, and the plumber's test settles the hardness on the day.
